Home Alone Themed Dinner
This week’s themed dinner was inspired by the classic Christmas film – Home Alone! Mistakenly left alone while his family traveled to Paris for the holidays, 8-year-old Kevin finds creative ways to fend for himself in their absence. To make matters worse, Kevin must face off against two burglars in a showdown to protect his home. We love watching this movie during Christmastime and enjoy lots of laughs as we quote our favorite scenes. There are several food references throughout the film, which made it a lot of fun creating this Home Alone Dinner menu. Read on, to see how we ate like unsupervised 8-year-olds while enjoying this holiday classic!…

Coco Themed Dinner
This week, we prepared traditional Mexican dishes for our Coco Themed Dinner in honor of the Mexican holiday, Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead. Dia de los Muertos plays a central role in the movie, Coco. It is a traditional Mexican holiday in which people gather to remember, celebrate, and connect with the spirits of their loved ones who have passed. It is a beautiful tradition in Mexican culture, and I feel Coco does a great job of representing the holiday. I had two goals in mind with our Coco Themed Dinner. First, I wanted to expose the kids to Mexican cuisine they had not experienced…

EPCOT Avocado Margarita Recipe
This week, I’m sharing my copycat recipe for the famous EPCOT Avocado Margarita! EPCOT’s Avocado Margarita can be found at La Cava del Tequila, a small tequila bar located within the Mexico Pavilion pyramid. This concoction is a favorite among parkgoers challenging themselves to “Drink Around the World” in World Showcase. (Check out our Eating and Drinking Around the World adventure HERE!) Using my past bartending knowledge, I challenged myself to come up with my own recipe for EPCOTs’ Avocado Margarita to enjoy during our Coco Themed Dinner. Jungle Cruise Themed Dinner
The long-anticipated Jungle Cruise movie recently premiered, and we did a themed dinner to celebrate the night! This film is based on the beloved attraction in Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Full of corny dad jokes and groan-worthy puns, Jungle Cruise is one of my ABSOLUTE favorite attractions in the parks. And I’m happy to say, the film was successful in incorporating that classic fun. For our Jungle Cruise Themed Dinner menu, I took inspiration from one of my favorite table service restaurants in Magic Kingdom – Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen! That may seem like a mouthful, but if you are a big fan of the Jungle Cruise…

Oliver and Company Themed Dinner Night
This week, our themed Disney Dinner is inspired by the animated classic, Oliver and Company! This film is loosely based on the story of Oliver Twist and features a lost kitten who joins up with a gang of dogs in New York City. My kids love this movie because it features fun musical numbers, lovable furry friends, and the great city of New York! Not only did we enjoy watching Oliver and Company with this themed dinner, but we also started the evening out by watching a doggie dock diving competition at our local sports store. The kids enjoyed watching the “dock dogs” show off their jumping skills before ending…
