Lilo and Stitch Themed Dinner

Aloha, readers!  While it may be snowy and gloomy here in the Midwest, we aren’t going to let that stop us from having our very own tropical luau for our Lilo and Stitch Themed Dinner!  For this week’s Disney Themed Dinner, I am doing things a little differently.  Rather than test out new recipes for our themed dinner, I will be using OFFICIAL DISNEY WORLD RECIPES!!  These recipes hail from nonother than the Polynesian themed restaurant – ‘Ohana!

Lilo and Stitch Themed Dinner

For those who are unfamiliar with this popular dining spot, ‘Ohana can be found at the Polynesian Village Resort on Disney property.  In the morning hours, visitors to the restaurant can enjoy a family-style character breakfast featuring Lilo and Stitch. The evening hours feature a Hawaiian-style all-you-care-to-enjoy dinner.  When I came across these official Disney World recipes, I knew I had to recreate them at home for our very own Lilo and Stitch Themed Dinner!!

‘Ohana Main Entrées

I have heard countless rave reviews from fellow Disney fans about the food served at ‘Ohana’s family-style dinner.  In particular, the Pineapple Glazed Noodles and the Honey Coriander Chicken Wings.  Having never had the pleasure of dining at ‘Ohana myself (YET!), I was thrilled to find these official Disney recipes to try at home.  Now I can FINALLY get an idea of what I am missing out on!

The Pineapple Glazed Noodles recipe I used hails from The Recipes of Disney blog.  This recipe was quick and easy to assemble and was a hit with the family!  If I can pull off this recipe at home, I can only imagine how wonderful these noodles are at ‘Ohana when prepared by Disney’s finest chefs!

The recipe I used for the Honey Coriander Chicken Wings comes from The Mouse For Less.  This recipe was a little more involved. Preparation requires assembling a spice rub for the chicken in addition to the honey coriander wing sauce.  Rather than prepare these in the oven (as the recipe calls for), I tossed them in the air fryer.  These wings came out great!  Again, they were a big hit with the family and something I would certainly make again.

Mahalo Side Dish

Figuring out a recipe to serve as a side dish was a little more challenging.  I wanted to serve up a healthy vegetable to go with the wings and noodles, and there are only so many vegetables my kids are willing to eat!  I stumbled across this recipe from Magical Recipes for ‘Ohana Green Beans.  These green beans are sautéed with onion and garlic, then topped with crispy bacon pieces.  I am not aware of a green bean dish currently being served at ‘Ohana, but this recipe was wonderful, nonetheless.  You really can’t go wrong topping off your veggies with some fresh bacon!  The green beans complemented the wings and noodles wonderfully.

Readers – have any of you seen such a dish when dining at ‘Ohana, past or present?  Let me know in the comments!

‘Ono Grinds Dessert

To finish off our Lilo and Stitch Themed Dinner, I knew we needed to try some of ‘Ohana’s famous Bread Pudding.  With no official Disney recipe available, I decided to try out a copy-cat recipe.  The recipe I followed comes from Disney Food Blog.  I can’t speak as to whether or not this recipe resembles the original ‘Ohana Bread Pudding, but it was sure tasty regardless! The kids enjoyed this dessert a lot and looked forward to enjoying the leftovers over the next few days.

We had a lot of fun recreating these popular Disney World dishes from ‘Ohana as part of our Lilo and Stitch Themed Dinner.  We don’t know when our next chance will be to head to the parks, so being able to recreate the magic at home tides us over in between trips!

Have you ever dined at Disney World’s ‘Ohana restaurant?  How was your experience?!  What would you do to create your own Lilo and Stitch Themed Dinner at home?  Let me know in the comments!
