Zootopia Themed Dinner
Get ready to “try everything” with our Zootopia themed dinner and movie night!

In the bustling mammal metropolis of Zootopia, anyone can be anything! And this motto rings true for Judy Hopps, the first bunny to join Zootopia’s police department. After receiving her first case, she teams up with Nick Wilde (a fox con artist) to investigate a series of animal disappearances. However, their investigations lead them to uncover an even deeper conspiracy in their city.
My kids are animal-lovers, so it’s no surprise Zootopia is a hit with the family. The diverse cast of animal characters, witty humor, and well-crafted mystery have made Zootopia a staple of movie nights, and the inspiration for this week’s themed dinner!

I also created printable food labels featuring our favorite Zootopia characters for our dinner.

Judy’s Roasted Carrots
Judy comes from a long line of carrot farmers in the rural neighborhood of Bunnyburrow. After her first day on the job at the police department, we see Judy prepare a microwave dinner labeled “Carrots for One.”

Rabbits and carrots – they made perfect sense for our Zootopia dinner!
To prepare our carrots, I used a recipe for Honey Garlic Butter Roasted Carrots from Eatwell 101. I knew these would be much more appetizing than Judy’s sad microwave meal carrots.

Vegetables can be hit or miss with the kids, but I’m happy to say these roasted carrots were a win. The honey and garlic butter gave them tons of flavor – I couldn’t get enough, myself!
Nick’s Pawpsicles
When Judy first meets Nick, she busts his small-time hustle of reproducing and selling “pawpsicles” for a profit in Tundratown.

These adorable pawprint-shaped popsicles are prevalent throughout Zootopia, so I knew we had to make our own version for dinner.
To create the pawprint shapes, I ordered a Paw Silicon Mold from Amazon. The molds also came with sticks, so I had all the materials needed for our Pawpsicles!
I used a recipe from Clara Plate to create our strawberry popsicles. Made with fresh strawberries, lemon juice, and a touch of honey – these popsicles were a refreshing and healthy treat!

Good thing I made a bunch, because the kids couldn’t get enough of them!
Mr. Big’s Cheese Platter
Mr. Big is the intimidating (yet tiny) founder of Little Rodentia and crime boss of Tundratown. He’s basically The Godfather, but on a very small scale. So, to pay tribute to Zootopia’s tiniest residents, I created a cheese platter featuring Mr. Big at the center.

Our cheese platter consisted of miniature cubes of cheese, Babybel wheels, and miniature wedges of Brie. I also included Club Minis crackers, sunflower seeds, grapes, and dried blueberries as other bite-sized morsels to round out the platter.
Bellwether’s Night Howler Serum
Night Howler Serum is a mind-altering toxin derived from flowers that causes the inhabitants of Zootopia to act feral.

In the film, we see Judy and Nick swap out the serum pellets with similar-looking blueberries to trick the criminals behind the attacks.

So, we played a switcheroo too, and served blueberries as our Night Howler Serum! They were the perfect healthy snack for movie time.
Mayor Lionheart’s Predator Pizzas
Next up for our Zootopia dinner – Predator Pizzas. Inspired by Zootopia’s lion mayor, these mini pizzas served as the main (or should I say “mane”) entrée for our dinner. Each Predator Pizza was loaded with pepperoni to satisfy the most carnivorous appetites.
I used English muffins as the base of our pizzas, and topped each one with sauce and cheese. Pepperonis served as the nose, mouth, and mane of our pizzas, and sliced black olives as the eyes.

The kids are pepperoni fiends, so they were thrilled I went overboard with them for this particular dish.
The Big Donut
Our dessert was inspired by the runaway donut shop sign – The Big Donut! The sign was knocked loose as Judy chased down a suspect, and wreaked havoc on the citizens of Little Rodentia. Luckily, Judy was able to secure it before it squashed Mr. Big’s daughter, Fru Fru!

To create our Big Donut, I decided to make a donut-shaped cake. First, I ordered a Donut Baking Mold off Amazon to achieve the look.
The recipe for our Big Donut came from Kwika Recipes. After baking the batter in the mold, I covered the top with chocolate ganache and plenty of colorful sprinkles. Then, I used pink icing to pipe the works “The Big Donut” just like in the movie.

The kids were looking over my shoulder every step of preparation – they couldn’t wait to sample this dessert. And their enthusiasm was spot on, because this cake was so good.
I loved the notes of cinnamon and nutmeg, and the sour cream made the cake very tender and moist. I definitely plan on using this recipe for other cakes in the future. It was the perfect sweet ending to our Zootopia dinner!
