Snow White Themed Dinner
This week’s Disney Dinner was themed to Walt Disney’s first animated feature film – Snow White! As the weather cools, apples are ready for picking, and fall approaches. What better time to enjoy a Snow White themed dinner? Seeing as how Snow White takes place in Germany, our menu featured traditional German dishes alongside the star of the film – apples! I also made our very own poison apple to incorporate in our Snow White dinner décor. Click HERE to see the tutorial I used as well as other Disney Halloween craft tutorials. Snow White Dinner Menu As I mentioned before, our Snow White dinner menu was inspired by traditional…

Alice in Wonderland Tea Party
This week, we drank tea and played croquet during our outdoor Alice in Wonderland tea party! When my daughter turned three, I wanted to throw her an Alice in Wonderland tea party in our backyard. I made most of the decorations myself, and even hand-painted a croquet set to look like the flamingos and hedgehogs from the film. But as luck would have it, storms rolled in on her birthday, and the party had to be relocated inside. It was still a grand time, but I was a little disappointed it wasn’t the outdoor Alice in Wonderland tea party I had envisioned. I decided to hold on to most of…

Finding Nemo Themed Dinner
This week, we celebrated our favorite fishy friends with a Finding Nemo themed dinner! With summer in full swing, I decided it was the perfect time to plan a Finding Nemo dinner. This nautical adventure follows two fish, Marlin and Dory, as they cross the ocean in search of Marlin’s son, Nemo. Our dinner menu was inspired by the marine life Marlin and Dory encounter on their travels. As they say in the film, “Fish are friends, not food!” So, in solidarity with the sentiment, the only fish on our menu were goldfish crackers. So, grab your “exit buddy” and don’t forget to “just keep swimming” as we share our…

Onward Themed Dinner
This week’s Disney Dinner was themed to the family adventure film, Onward! Onward is the story of two teenage elf brothers (Ian and Barley) who embark on a magical quest for the chance to reunite with their departed father. As one would expect from a quest, the boys encounter perilous obstacles, magic spells, and dangerous curses on their exciting journey. Although we don’t see much of the boys’ father, Wilden, his impact in the film makes him one of my favorite Disney Dads. And as we gear up for Father’s Day, I thought it would be fitting to celebrate with an Onward themed dinner! There are TONS of great food…

Tangled Themed Dinner
This week, we enjoyed a special themed dinner inspired by Tangled! Tangled is Disney’s take on the classic fairytale of Rapunzel. Hidden away in a tower her entire life, Rapunzel dreams of one day leaving to see the world. When her opportunity arrives, she seizes the moment, and adventure ensues! Tangled is a favorite in our home. With plenty of laughs, catchy musical numbers, touching moments, and lovable characters – there is something for everyone to enjoy. Our Tangled dinner menu was inspired by food that appears in the film as well as Rapunzel’s long, golden locks. Since her hair plays a pivotal role in the film, I wanted to…

Bambi Themed Dinner
This week, we welcomed the arrival of spring with a Bambi themed dinner! In the film, spring is greeted by the woodland creatures with excitement and celebration. The feeling is mutual at our home as we eagerly look forward to warm and sunny days. Now I must make a confession here – Bambi is not one of my favorite Disney films. (*Gasp!*) My five-year-old had never seen it prior to this dinner because I’ve failed to make it a viewing priority. And the reason for my Disney parenting misstep is because…well…Bambi is sad! But Bambi is one of Walt’s classics, and the perfect film to usher in spring. So, I…

Encanto Themed Dinner
This week’s themed dinner was inspired by the new Disney film, Encanto! Encanto is about the Madrigal family and their magical gifts they use to give back to their community. This story pays tribute to the beauty of Colombia. Music, dance, familial ties, and the country’s natural beauty are all focal points of the film. Not to mention the incredible food! We absolutely adore this movie. With a captivating soundtrack by Lin-Manuel Miranda, it’s no surprise we can’t stop singing our favorite Encanto songs throughout the day. Because this movie is so popular in our home, I knew I had to create a special menu for an Encanto Themed Dinner. …

Mulan Themed Dinner
This week, we enjoyed a Mulan Themed Dinner while learning about the traditional holiday, Lunar New Year! I’ve been wanting to do a Mulan Themed Dinner for a while because I absolutely love Chinese cuisine. And when I realized Lunar New Year was approaching, I decided it would be the perfect learning opportunity for the kids (and me)! Lunar New Year (also known as Spring Festival) is an important international holiday celebrated in many Asian countries. This celebration marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring! The New Year begins with the first new moon of the lunar calendar, and festivities continue for 15 days until the first…

Frozen Themed Dinner
The cold, dark winter days of January are here, so I decided to brighten things up with a Frozen Themed Dinner! What better movie to enjoy while the average temp outside is 10 below zero? And coincidentally, we found ourselves in the middle of a winter storm the day of our dinner party. The cold may never bother Elsa, but it sure is affecting me! The menu I created for our Frozen Themed Dinner was influenced by some fun food references in the film. And because Frozen is set in Norway, I also took inspiration from traditional Norwegian cuisine. Incorporating these Norwegian dishes on our menu was a great opportunity…

Home Alone Themed Dinner
This week’s themed dinner was inspired by the classic Christmas film – Home Alone! Mistakenly left alone while his family traveled to Paris for the holidays, 8-year-old Kevin finds creative ways to fend for himself in their absence. To make matters worse, Kevin must face off against two burglars in a showdown to protect his home. We love watching this movie during Christmastime and enjoy lots of laughs as we quote our favorite scenes. There are several food references throughout the film, which made it a lot of fun creating this Home Alone Dinner menu. Read on, to see how we ate like unsupervised 8-year-olds while enjoying this holiday classic!…
