Our Star Wars Themed Nursery

Baby Ezra arrived this week on Wednesday, January 13th, 2021.  Our little boy decided to come a whole week early!  You’d think this ‘experienced’ mom would have been ready, but we most certainly were not.

Luckily, everything fell into place quickly, and we were able to add the finishing touches to his nursery in a matter of days after getting home from the hospital.  We decided to go with a Star Wars themed nursery for this little Jedi, and I am thrilled with the way it turned out!

Through a combination of crafting and DIYs, excellent Star Wars merchandise finds, and savvy shopping on Amazon for outer space-themed products, I’ll show you how we pulled this look together.  Hopefully it will inspire some of your own Star Wars décor additions, whether in a nursery, kids room, or even adult living space (Star Wars is for everyone after all!).

Crafts and DIYs

I wanted to keep all crafting and DIYs for Ezra’s Star Wars themed nursery as simple and straight forward as possible.  The last thing an expecting mother needs is an additional pile of projects to complete before baby’s arrival!

One thing I knew we needed was the name ‘EZRA’ spelled out above the crib with Star Wars character designs.  For the characters, I chose to go with Boba Fett (my four-year-old’s favorite), Darth Vader (my favorite!), R2D2 and Chewbacca.  A nice balance of light side and dark side, I’d say!

I found the letters I needed at Hobby Lobby, and simply painted the designs I wanted with acrylic paint and sharpie accents.  After a good coating of clear protective enamel, they were good to go!  I’m very happy with how the letters turned out.

In place of a nightlight, I wanted our little Jedi to have his very own lightsaber!  My husband found a really great (and cordless option) on Wish.com.  I love this lightsaber because you can charge it up as needed and it lights the bedroom beautifully at night.

Spaceships

Another simple DIY we did for the Star Wars themed nursery was mount various Star Wars space crafts on the wall.  My husband found these Star Wars Hot Wheels Spaceships on sale at Walmart for a couple dollars apiece.  Each ship came with a standing mount to display it, so we simply attached command strips to the base of each mount so they would look like they were flying across the wall.

Embroidery Hoops

Embroidery hoops offer another super easy DIY option.  Just simply find a fabric that you would like to display in the hoops and hang them on the wall!  It seriously doesn’t get any easier than that.  I also chose to paint the hoops to compliment the fabric colors.

Baby Blanket

Finally, I must point out the beautiful baby blanket my 12-year-old sewed with her aunt just for her little brother.  They picked out beautiful Star Wars fabrics, and she sewed it in one night!  This mama was very impressed.

When Ezra got a little bigger (around 6 months), we decided to do some Star Wars footprint art. We painted his foot the main color of each character with non-toxic paint, then I added the details of each character. I love how this project turned out!

Amazon Baby Registry Finds

If you are expecting a little one, be sure to sign up for a baby registry through Amazon!  After completing a few simple steps, you will qualify for a free Welcome Baby Box that includes a lot of great products and coupons for your little one.  There are tons of great baby products on Amazon, but not a lot that are specifically Star Wars nursery themed.  I did, however, find some beautiful products that still fit our outer space feel and wasted no time adding them to my registry.  Check some of them out below!

I also came across these 8 X 10 portraits on Amazon that I thought would be perfect for a Star Wars themed nursery!

And of course…when I came across this Newborn Yoda Outfit I knew we had to have it!  As if we needed another reason to do a newborn photo shoot.  I can’t wait to see how the pictures turn out!

Other Fun Star Wars Finds

Hobby Lobby

Most of our other Star Wars nursery themed items were found by happy accidents.  I will say, Hobby Lobby is a really great place to check out for home décor.  And they did not disappoint when it came to the Star Wars theme!  I found some great Star Wars signs to hang in the nursery, as well as this Light Side/Dark Side light switch cover.  The other great thing about Hobby Lobby, is a lot of their décor items are usually on sale.  I didn’t pay full price for any of these items!

Box Lunch

I also didn’t hesitate to scoop up these adorable faux succulent planters I found from Box Lunch.  If you’ve never checked out Box Lunch before and consider yourself a Disney fan (or Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel…pretty any pop culture) I highly recommend checking out their products! We love getting a lot of our outfits and park gear for future Disney World trips from their shop.

And finally, the pièce de résistance…our beautiful Wampa Rug!  I scoured the internet searching for one of these bad boys to no avail.  But (thanks to targeted ads on Facebook) my husband was able to stumble across one available on fun.com.  Aside from almost eating Luke Skywalker, he is just so adorable! Plus, the Wampa rug really ties the room together 😉.

So, there you have it!  This is how we pulled together our Star Wars Themed Nursery for our little Jedi.  Ezra seems to enjoy his surroundings as he’s been a great sleeper and has plenty to look at during his waking hours.

Do you have a Disney-Themed Nursery at home?  I’d love to hear your ideas or see some photos in the comments!
