Avengers Themed Dinner

Avengers, assemble! The Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are uniting once again to bring you the ultimate Avengers themed dinner and movie night.

Avengers

I’m on a mission to marathon every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie with my kids to gear them up for their first-ever visit to Avengers Campus. I can’t believe we’ve never been to the West Coast Disney parks, and that’s something I plan to remedy soon!

So, to make this marathon extra fun and immersive, I’m pairing each superhero with a themed menu item.

Get ready to bring the action from the screen to your table, and be the hero of your next movie night with this Avengers themed dinner!

“I am Iron Man” Charcuterie Board

The MCU began with Iron Man, so we created a charcuterie board inspired by the “genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist” who started it all.

Charcuterie boards are a great addition to themed movie nights. You can easily customize them with ingredients you already have on hand. Plus, they’re a lot of fun to personalize with special themed touches. For our Iron Man charcuterie board, we used a variety of meats, cheeses, and crackers I picked up from Aldi.

I also incorporated Iron Man’s signature red and gold colors by adding strawberries, cherry tomatoes, raspberries, cherries, and sliced bell peppers.

The focal point of our charcuterie board was an everything bagel cream cheese spread topped with an Iron Man mask I created with pepperoni, cheese, and black olive. I also used letter-shaped cookie cutters to incorporate the phrase, “I am Iron Man.”

Hulk’s Smashed Guacamole

For our next Avengers themed dinner menu item, to quote Tony Stark, “We have a Hulk.”

I used guacamole to represent Hulk in order to capture his signature green look. Hulk is also known for smashing things, and since guacamole is made from smashed avocados, it fit the bill!

I love making my own guacamole, but for our Avengers themed dinner, I took the easy route and picked up a tub from the store. But if you’d prefer to get your Hulk on (and smash your own avocados) this recipe from What Molly Made is fantastic!

Thor’s Hammers

When it came to Thor, I was torn between two different recipes to depict his legendary hammer, Mjölnir. So, I decided to make both!

First, I assembled a miniature cheese plate featuring hammers made with string cheese and pretzels. I also included slices of cheddar cut with a lightning bolt cookie cutter to pay tribute to the god of thunder.

Next, I made Thor cupcakes using my go-to chocolate cupcake recipe from Celebrating Sweets. I topped each cupcake with vanilla buttercream and blue sanding sugar.

To make the hammers, I coated Rice Krispies Treats with silver edible paint, then skewered them with a pretzel for the handle. Since this was a sweet treat, I swapped out the standard pretzels for Dot’s Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Twists for this dish.

Captain America’s Fruit Pizza Shield

Next up on our Avengers themed dinner is the first Avenger himself – Captain America! I took inspiration from his iconic shield to create a fruit pizza worthy of the stars and stripes.

Our fruit pizza recipe came from Cookie Dough and Oven Mitt. This recipe utilizes a sugar cookie crust and tangy cream cheese spread loaded with fresh fruit.

I used strawberries, bananas, and blueberries to create the concentric circles on our shield. I also piped a star-shaped sugar cookie with white icing, then placed it on top of the blueberries for the center of the shield.

Star-Spangled Super Punch

The final menu item for our Avengers themed dinner was our Star-Spangled Super Punch. This nonalcoholic punch was inspired by the patriotic red, white, and blue of Captain America’s uniform.

I layered my red, white, and blue ingredients in this punch based on their sugar content. The highest sugar content ingredient (and the densest) goes on the bottom. Then, you can carefully float the next layers on top.

I used grenadine for the red color on the bottom of my glass, then filled each glass with ice. Then, I floated Gatorade Glacier Cherry (white) on top of the red using a spoon, followed by Gatorade Glacier Freeze Zero Sugar (blue).

The kids were pretty impressed with this old bartending trick, and though the punch was delicious!

I hope you enjoyed our Avengers themed dinner. The kids had an absolute blast bringing the MCU to life in our very own home. And now, we can look forward to meeting our favorite heroes face-to-face when we visit Avengers Campus!
