The BEST Places to Take a Break in EPCOT

This week, we are covering the best places to take a break in EPCOT.

A full day at the Disney Parks can be EXHAUSTING.  The early mornings, hot sun, long lines, and miles of walking each day really adds up.  Taking breaks is essential, especially when traveling with little ones or guests with mobility issues or special needs.

The best way to rest and recharge is to take a midday break at your resort.  But that isn’t always the most convenient option for parkgoers.  So, I’m creating a series of posts that cover the best spots to take a break in each Walt Disney World Park.  And today, we are talking about EPCOT!

I’ve organized the best EPCOT break locations in the following categories:

Off the Beaten Path – locations to sit and get away from the crowds

Rest and Refuel – quieter places to grab a drink or snack

Playgrounds – areas for little ones to blow off steam while adults regroup

Attractions – relaxed rides and shows that allow you to rest (and are often airconditioned!)

Baby Care Centers – complimentary facilities which offer amenities for babies and toddlers

Whether you need to rest your feet, let a little one snooze in the stroller, or regroup and recharge – be sure to check out these EPCOT break locations!

Off the Beaten Path

These areas tend to have lower crowds and offer seating in the shade or A/C.

Jumping Water Fountains

These fun fountains can be found near Journey Into Imagination With Figment.  We always make a point to stop here because the kids love watching the water jump from one fountain to another.  You won’t find sun cover here, but there is plenty of seating to take a load off.  On an especially hot day, it’s perfectly acceptable to let the kiddos get a little wet while trying to catch the water!

United Kingdom Pavilion Gardens

These gardens are located toward the back of the UK Pavilion and tucked away from the crowds.  There are plenty of benches surrounded by gorgeous blooms that create a peaceful atmosphere.  While the adults regroup, little ones with energy to burn can explore the hedge maze.

A live band plays in the gardens at various times throughout the day, so be aware of upcoming showtimes if you are looking for a quiet escape.  Otherwise, settle in for a great show!

Japan Pavilion Gardens

Another stunning garden prefect for taking a break in EPCOT can be found in the Japan Pavilion.  Several shaded benches provide ample seating while you admire the beautiful blossoms, koi ponds, and waterfalls.

Bijutsu-kan Gallery

Located in the Japan Pavilion, this exhibit showcases Japanese artwork and culture.  The air-conditioned galleries contain plenty of benches so guests can relax away from the crowds while taking in the displays.

Moroccan Pavilion Fez House

The Morocco Pavilion is replete with relaxing nooks to get away from the crowds.  One of my favorite spots is the Fez House.  Designed to resemble a Moroccan home, this area features benches, a small fountain, and gorgeous tile work.  This is one of the best pavilions to find a quiet corner to take a break in EPCOT.

Canada Pavilion Gardens/Waterfall

The Canada Pavilion has plenty of bench seating throughout the area.  For a beautiful and relaxing atmosphere, head to the Victoria Gardens.  If you head further back in the pavilion, you can enjoy the cool mist and soothing atmosphere of the waterfall.

Rest and Refuel

Dining in EPCOT is an attraction in itself. Be sure to check out our Guide to Eating and Drinking Around the World HERE!

Katsura Grill

This Japan Pavilion Quick Service restaurant features menu items such as sushi, teriyaki, and other popular Japanese dishes.  The outdoor seating area is spacious and a great place to escape the crowds.  The nearby waterfall, gardens, and reflecting ponds create a serene environment for relaxation, especially when lit at nighttime.

Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar

For a quiet getaway, head into this elegant wine bar located in the Italy Pavilion.  Comfy couches and a cozy fireplace make this intimate space the ideal place to take a break in EPCOT.

Tutto Gusto is technically a lounge, so it requires no Advance Dining Reservations.  It can get busy during dinnertime, so the best time to come is early in the afternoon.  Children are welcome, and there is a kid’s menu they may order from.

Playgrounds

Sometimes, little ones need to burn off energy after being confined to their strollers.  At these playgrounds, kiddos can stretch their legs while adults rest their feet or secure their next Genie+ reservation.

Bruce’s Shark World

This indoor play area is located at the exit of The Seas with Nemo and Friends.  Kiddos can get a cute photo with Bruce the shark and explore the incredible aquariums throughout the space.  And best of all – it’s air conditioned!

Advanced Training Lab

This space-themed play area can be accessed through the exit of Mission: Space.  There are two separate sections for younger and older kids.  Toddlers can enjoy crawling through an interactive playground, while older kids can play digital space games.

Green Landing Play Zone

This is the ultimate outdoor playground in EPCOT.  A wide variety of recreational equipment provides endless entertainment for the kiddos.  There are also plenty of chairs and benches for the adults to relax on.  You can find this play area behind Creations Shop on the way to Test Track.

Mission: Space Splash Pad

If your little ones are feeling the heat, head to Mission: Space.  Outside the attraction, you will find a small splash pad that’s perfect for little ones to splash around and cool off.  Be prepared to have a towel and change of clothes handy!

Attractions

There are several attractions in EPCOT which allow guests to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the park.  Most of these attractions offer a relaxing ambiance, comfy seating, A/C, and low wait times for admittance.

Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival

Grab your 3D glass and head into the cool and relaxing theater.  Get comfy and enjoy this 18-minute film festival presenting classic shorts in amazing 4D.

Spaceship Earth

Every parkgoer must experience EPCOT’s flagship attraction housed in the iconic geosphere.  This 16min dark ride takes guests through time to witness how human communication has evolved through the years.

Both of our girls zonked out during this attraction on our last trip, and I was grateful because they needed it!

Living With the Land

This relaxing boat ride takes guests through beautiful scenes and actual greenhouses as you learn about the history of farming.  The 15min duration and gentle rocking of the boat is a great way to kick back in the park.  If you like to hunt for hidden Mickey’s, you will find a bunch of fun surprises in the greenhouses!

Awesome Planet

This 10min presentation tells the story of life on earth and why we must care for it.  The theater is a great place to escape the heat, and special effects (such as wind, scents, and water), make this a unique viewing experience.

American Adventure

If you are looking for a lengthy attraction that allows you to settle in and relax in the park, then head to American Adventure.  This 30min production is a stirring retelling of our nation’s history.  And while the cool dark theater is arguably the ideal place to take a nap (no judgement), I highly encourage you to take in the compelling performance!

Impressions de France

Escape the heat and crowds by heading into the beautiful theater in the France Pavilion.  This 18-minute film is a stunning tribute to the people and culture of France.

Baby Care Centers

When traveling with little ones, be sure to take advantage of the complimentary Baby Care Center located in each park.

These areas are fully staffed and offer several amenities such as:

  • A living area with seating, television, and activities for kids
  • Private nursing area with rocking chairs
  • Changing room with tables
  • Kitchen with microwave and sink
  • Feeding area with highchairs
  • Essentials available for purchase such as diapers, wipes, medication, baby food, formula, and more!

The Baby Care Center in EPCOT is located in the Odyssey Events Pavilion between Future World and the Mexico Pavilion.

I hope you can take advantage of these EPCOT break locations during your next trip to Walt Disney World!
