The BEST Places to Take a Break in Magic Kingdom

This week, we are covering the best places to take a break in Magic Kingdom.

A full day at the Disney Parks can be EXHAUSTING.  The early mornings, hot sun, long lines, and miles of walking each day really adds up.  Taking breaks is essential, especially when traveling with little ones or guests with mobility issues or special needs.

The best way to rest and recharge is to take a midday break at your resort.  But that isn’t always the most convenient option for parkgoers.  So, I’m creating a series of posts that cover the best spots to take a break in each Walt Disney World Park.  And today, we are talking about Magic Kingdom!

I’ve organized the best Magic Kingdom break locations in the following categories:

Off the Beaten Path – locations to sit and get away from the crowds

Rest and Refuel – quieter places to grab a drink or snack

Playgrounds – areas for little ones to blow off steam while adults regroup

Attractions – relaxed rides and shows that allow you to rest (and are often airconditioned!)

Baby Care Centers – complimentary facilities which offer amenities for babies and toddlers

Whether you need to rest your feet, let a little one snooze in the stroller, or regroup and recharge – be sure to check out these Magic Kingdom break locations!

Off the Beaten Path

These areas tend to have lower crowds and offer seating in the shade or A/C.  Amenities such as restroom facilities and charging stations may also be available.

Center Street (Main Street USA)

Walking down Main Street, you will find a small side street just past Uptown Jewelers.  This alleyway is rarely occupied, and offers several tables, chairs, and benches for seating.

Train Station Balcony (Main Street USA)

At the top of the train station, you will find a balcony that offers fantastic views of Main Street and Cinderella Castle.  This area is covered, so you are protected from the sun and rain.  The balcony is hardly ever crowded, making it a great place for a break in Magic Kingdom Park.  Because of the great views, however, it tends to fill up before parades and fireworks – so plan accordingly!

Castle Hub Grass (Main Street USA)

While there is no actual seating or shade on the Castle hub grass, the turf is soft and a great place to lay down a blanket or towel.  Little ones can stretch their legs and explore the gardens while adults enjoy beautiful views of the castle.  If it’s time to refuel, grab some Casey’s Corner and enjoy it right there on the grass!

Swiss Family Treehouse (Adventureland)

Near the entrance to the treehouse, there is a rest area in the semi-shade that offers bench seating.

Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe (Liberty Square)

There is plenty of seating tucked away near the Christmas Shoppe that many guests may overlook.  Adjacent to the store, you will find a table and chairs next to a sleigh that makes for a great photo opportunity.  You can also find several more benches and seating outside near the back of the store.

Tangled Area (Fantasyland)

The Tangled area of Fantasyland offers shaded seating, charging stations, and some of the best themed restrooms on property.  The elements from the film in this area are incredible, and include beautiful lanterns and banners, amusing “Wanted” posters, and Rapunzel’s tower in the distance.  Little ones will also enjoy hunting for the hidden Pascals located throughout the area.

Circus Tent (Fantasyland)

At the very back of Fantasyland, you will find a circus tent next to Pete’s Silly Sideshow.  Here, there are plenty of seating areas as well as several charging stations. This area is usually pretty quiet, making it a great place for little ones to take a quick nap.

Tomorrowland Terrace (Tomorrowland)

When not operating as a venue for dessert parties, Tomorrowland Terrace is a great location to take a break in Magic Kingdom.  This shaded area stays quiet during the day, and you can enjoy plenty of seating and great views of the castle.  There are also outlets available to charge your device as well as rarely used restroom facilities.

Rest and Refuel

Columbia Harbor House (Liberty Square)

Head to the second floor of this Quick Service restaurant, and oftentimes you will find it nearly empty.  Enjoy New England-inspired seafood while soaking up some A/C, charging your device, and taking in the fantastic view.

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café (Frontierland)

You will find burgers, tacos, and other Tex-Mex favorites at this popular Quick Service location. The main interior dining room and outdoor courtyard can get pretty busy during peak dining times, but most guests completely miss the upper dining level. This area is smaller and more peaceful than the rest of the restaurant, and offers great views overlooking Frontierland.

Playgrounds

Sometimes, little ones need to burn off energy after being confined to their strollers.  At these playgrounds, kiddos can stretch their legs while adults rest their feet or secure their next Genie+ reservation.

Splash Mountain Laughing Place (Frontierland)

This play area is located near the exit of Splash Mountain.  It is quite small, but perfect for toddlers to climb and slide.

Tom Sawyer Island (Frontierland)

Many guests overlook Tom Sawyer Island, which makes it a great place to take a break in Magic Kingdom.  To reach the island, you must cross the water by raft.  Once there, you will find plenty of quiet, shaded places to rest.  There are also several exciting spots for kids to run and explore such as the caves, mills, and fort.

Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station (Fantasyland)

Casey Jr. splash pad is a great spot for all ages to have fun and cool off.  Depending on how you play – you may get SOAKED!  Be prepared to have a towel and change of clothes handy.

This area was a lifesaver on our last trip when it was hot, and people were getting tired.  Click HERE for more tips to stay cool at Walt Disney World.

Dumbo Interactive Queue (Fantasyland)

This playground is technically part of Dumbo’s line queue.  But rather than wait in line, kiddos enjoy a circus-themed indoor play area while adults sit and relax.  Guests are paged when it’s their turn to board the attraction.

Attractions

There are several attractions in Magic Kingdom which allow guests to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the park.  Most of these attractions offer a relaxing ambiance, comfy seating, A/C, and low wait times for admittance.

Walt Disney World Railroad

Stations to board and disembark the Walt Disney World Railroad are located at Main Street, Frontierland, and Fantasyland.  This relaxing tour of Magic Kingdom offers 20min of peace, a cool breeze, and great views of the park!

Mickey’s PhilharMagic (Fantasyland)

This 12min 3D film features Donald Duck traveling through classic Disney movie scenes in pursuit of Mickey’s sorcerer hat. This show is a can’t-miss for us, and when the parks are hot and hectic, it’s a great escape to relax in some A/C.

Carousel of Progress (Tomorrowland)

Enjoy comfy seating in an airconditioned theater during this 20min presentation of technological progress.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover (Tomorrowland)

This 10min narrated tour of Tomorrowland offers great overhead views of the area and a refreshing breeze.  Guests also enjoy behind-the-scenes views of Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.
