At our house, Valentine’s Day is a family affair.  Every year, we host a Valentine’s Day party for the kids with crafts, games, and special treats.  And this year, I thought it would be fun to create a themed charcuterie board for our celebration.     The week, we stepped into the land of Oz with a spellbinding Wicked themed dinner! Inspired by The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Wicked first debuted on Broadway in 2003. The musical focuses on two witches, Elphaba and Glinda, and the events which occurred before and after Dorothy Gale donned her ruby slippers. Despite being polar opposites in nature, Elphaba and Glinda develop a deep friendship. However, their friendship is tested by the corrupt rule of Oz and ultimately leads to Elphaba’s descent into villainy as the Wicked Witch of the West.     The Santa Clause Themed Dinner

    This week, we put on our Santa hats and enjoyed a themed dinner to the Christmas classic – The Santa Clause! In The Santa Clause, Scott Calvin finds himself taking over the boots (literally) of Santa Claus after inadvertently startling him off his rooftop on Christmas Eve.  Scott teams up with his son, Charlie, to deliver the remaining presents and return to the North Pole.  Upon his return, however, the elves inform Scott he is now the new Santa (per the “Santa Clause”) and must resume his role next Christmas.  For our Santa Clause themed dinner menu, I took inspiration from several food references and characters in the film.
