Great-Grandma Carmella’s Italian Meatball Recipe
Ahhhh spaghetti and meatballs, the ultimate comfort food in my opinion! There’s nothing like twirling noodles on your fork and stabbing a juicy Italian meatball to keep everything together in one perfect bite. And let’s be honest, who hasn’t tried to reenact that famous noodle sharing scene from Lady and the Tramp? My family is guilty! Today, I am going to share how you can make your own Italian Meatballs with this treasured family recipe.
Italian Origins
This Italian Meatball Recipe comes from the kitchen of my Great-Grandma Carmella. The origin of this Italian Meatball Recipe hails from Naples, Italy, where my Grandma was born. I love embracing my Italian heritage, and it doesn’t get much more Italian than making your own meatballs and marinara!
Preparation
You can certainly prepare these meatballs on the stovetop and in the oven. However, these Italian Meatballs taste the VERY BEST when you finish cooking them in your very own marinara sauce. You can check out my Great-Grandma Carmella’s Classic Marinara Recipe HERE! Be sure to reserve some of the pan drippings from browning your meatballs in order to add more depth of flavor to the sauce.
This Italian Meatball recipe has become a staple in our house for Christmas Eve dinners. We spend the afternoon together in the kitchen, rolling out fresh cavatelli noodles to serve up with our homemade marinara and meatballs. I love creating new traditions with my family, while also embracing our traditions from the past. I hope this recipe may inspire you and your family to create some of your very own traditions together in the kitchen!
