An Afternoon Tea Inspired by Snow White
This week, we decided to throw an afternoon tea party inspired by the Disney film, Snow White. With fall in the air, we aimed to incorporate apples into our sweet and savory dishes, as well as our tea selection! Follow along as I walk you through how we assembled our Snow White tea party! Hopefully, this post will give you ideas on how to host your very own Snow White afternoon tea party for those princess lovers at home.
We love throwing tea parties at our house! There is nothing more relaxing than sitting around the table, nibbling on tiny sandwiches, pastries, and desserts, and sipping hot tea. It gives me a chance to slow down and enjoy time with my kiddos, and the girls think they are enjoying a REAL treat!
We treated ourselves to Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian Garden View Tea Room on our last trip to Disney World, and BOY did we have a good time! Read my full review of the experience HERE. Acknowledging the sad fact that we will probably not get to experience that wonderful tea service again for several years, I have made a point to try recreating some of that Disney magic at home by throwing our own tea parties!
For our fall afternoon tea party, I took inspiration from the Disney classic film, Snow White. Because apples are an integral part of the film (and it IS apple picking season after all), I wanted to incorporate this key ingredient into my afternoon tea offerings. A traditional afternoon tea is typically served on a three-tiered serving tray. The lower tier features tea sandwiches and savories, the middle tier consists of scones and accompaniments, and the upper tier consists of small desserts. With this in mind, I went to work collecting recipes!

The Tea
First things first…THE TEA! With Snow White and apples in mind, we decided to enjoy a Cinnamon Apple Spice Tea we had on hand from Celestial Seasonings. I also recommend trying the Organic Baked Cinnamon Apple tea from Tazo or Twinings Spiced Apple Chai Tea.

For those who aren’t big on sipping tea, I recommend serving up some apple cider or even some apple juice for the really little ones.
Tea Sandwiches and Savories
For my tea sandwich offerings, I wanted to keep things simple and cross utilize ingredients. A Snow White Afternoon Tea most certainly would require apples as a staple ingredient in each savory offering! The first offering I made was a Turkey, Apple, and Goat Cheese Tea Sandwich. My recipe is a simplified adaptation of THIS recipe from KitchenAid. KitchenAid’s recipe includes directions for baking your very own Cranberry Orange Bread which looks AMAZING. For the sake of time (and effort!) I went ahead and purchased the bread for my sandwiches.
My recipe is as follows:
Ingredients: Peppered turkey, Pink Lady apples (thinly sliced), honey goat cheese, Dijon mustard, cranberry wild rice bread
- Take four slices of cranberry bread and lightly spread with Dijon mustard.
- Thinly slice the apples and toss in lemon juice to prevent browning.
- Assemble the turkey, sliced apples, and honey goat cheese on two slices of bread. Top with the remaining bread.
- Trim crusts of sandwiches and cut into triangles or fingers. Enjoy!
These finger sandwiches were very easy to make and fit our theme well!
My second finger sandwich offering was an Apple Butter, Ham and Cheese Tea Sandwich adapted from THIS recipe from Plum Deluxe. I stayed true to their original recipe, but swapped out the rye bread for our 12 Grain Wheat we had on hand. I also swapped out the Swiss cheese for a Double Crème Brie. The combination with honey ham and apple butter was delicious!
For an additional savory offering, I found THIS recipe for Cranberry Brie Bites from Delish. To fit our apple theme, I swapped out the cranberry sauce for some apple jelly. Not only were these small pastries aesthetically pleasing, but they were also very tasty!
My last savory offering was a Sweet Potato Crostini with Brie, Honey, and Apple. I used THIS recipe from Dash of Mandi and simply swapped out the pear slices for Pink Lady apple slices. These were also beautiful in presentation and taste!
Our first course of savories went over very well with the kiddos (which is ALWAYS a wonderful thing!). These were all easy to prepare and assemble the day of our tea party. Now, onto the second course!
Scones
A traditional afternoon tea offers scones and accompaniments for the second course. I knew for this Snow White inspired afternoon tea, I had to make an Apple Cinnamon Scone and found THIS great recipe from 31Daily! I was nervous making these scones (as I had never made a pastry like them before), but this recipe had great directions and was very easy to follow. The scones turned out great! I made them a few days before the tea party and kept them in the freezer until we were ready to start setting up. We served them with the extra apple butter and apple jelly we had on hand from our other recipes. I am ashamed to say that I ate pretty much all of them myself over the course of the next few days haha!
Desserts
No afternoon tea is complete without a final course of desserts! I made these adorable Rice Crispy Apples from THIS recipe by Six Sisters’ Stuff. They fit perfectly with our theme and were very easy to make! Can you believe I have NEVER made rice crispy treats before?! I think it would be simple to use this recipe to make other adorable treats, such as rice crispy pumpkins for Halloween.
For our final dessert offering, I knew we HAD to have pie. Rather than emulate the gooseberry pie that Snow White baked for the dwarves in the film, I decided to make mini apple pies and get creative with the pie crusts. I used THIS recipe from Just a Taste for Muffin Tin Mini Apple Pies. I’ll be honest here…I bought my pie dough! It was a great time saver and I thought the pies turned out fantastic in the end. For the top crusts, I cut out several poison apple designs with a knife to look like the apple offered to Snow White by the Evil Queen. This design was very experimentational, but I am pretty happy with how they turned out! For the others, I used up the rest of my pie dough scraps by cutting out apple shapes with a cookie cutter.
I made both desserts ahead of time to cut down on preparation the day of the tea party. Tea parties are meant to be relaxing after all!
I am happy with how everything turned out, and the girls really appreciated the special treat. It was fun to reminisce about our wonderful Afternoon Tea experience we had on our trip to Walt Disney World. I am already thinking we need to do a Cinderella Tea Party next. It is pumpkin season after all! What Disney themed tea parties would you like to enjoy with your family?
