A Goofy Movie Dinner Night
One of our FAVORITE Disney movies to watch as a family (and seriously underrated, in my humble opinion) is the 1995 classic, A Goofy Movie. It has everything! Great music, tons of laughs, a road trip adventure, and a touching father/son storyline…what more could you ask for?! Plus sooo much delicious-looking food. I figured, what better way to enjoy this classic film than to create some of that magic at home, WITH FOOD! So for this week’s Disney Themed Dinner, we are taking a road trip across America with Goofy and Max, and enjoying some of those delicious snacks and treats along the way! I present to you, our Goofy Movie Dinner Night!

Appetizer
When you think of A Goofy Movie, what is the first food item that comes to mind? Spray cheese, you say?! Of course! Max’s lovable friend, Bobby Zimmeruski, is rarely seen in the film without a can of spray cheese in hand, while recreating famous works of Italian architecture. “Leaning Tower of CHEEZA!” anyone? So for our first course, we HAD to indulge in some spray cheese and crackers for our Goofy Movie Dinner. I’ll be honest, I haven’t tried the stuff since I was a kid. I consider myself a cheese purist and…let’s be honest…that is NOT real cheese! But it was fun to get nostalgic with the kiddos. We each had to try recreating the famous Leaning Tower of Cheeza from the movie!
Side
Our next menu item was inspired by the delicious alphabet soup Goofy and Max sipped while trapped in their car as Bigfoot rooted through their suitcases. This is one of our FAVORITE parts of the movie, as Bigfoot is a RIOT! It’s also a touching moment in the film when Goofy and Max reminisce about his younger and more innocent years, referring to the alphabet soup as “Hi Dad” soup. Rather than grabbing a can of alphabet soup from the soup aisle, I decided to create my own recipe utilizing fresh ingredients. You can find my easy crock pot recipe HERE! The kids absolutely loved the soup! I was even chided by my four-year-old for having the audacity to enjoy the last bowl myself, several days later.
I had a little trouble find the alphabet noodles for our soup, so I ended up ordering them on Amazon. If you find yourself in the same situation, you can order the same noodles HERE!
Entrée
Now, for the hearty part of our meal: grilled steak! We took inspiration from that AMAZING looking T-bone steak Pete was painstakingly preparing before it was caught in Bigfoot’s jaws. I opted for a different cut of meat rather than a traditional T-bone, but if you want to stay true to the film, a T-bone is the way to go! Preparation was simple on this one. Just prepare a marinade (you can find my easy steak marinade recipe HERE), let it marinate for 30min to 8 hours, and grill that baby until it reaches your ideal internal temperature. We like a medium-rare steak, which would have an internal temperature of 130-135F degrees.
Dessert
And finally, the best for last…DESSERT! While there are not a lot of dessert options found throughout the movie, my mouth couldn’t help but water when I watched Goofy eat that syrup soaked stack of pancakes at the roadside diner. I figured there HAS to be some sort of pancake inspired cupcake recipe floating out there in the interwebs, and Pinterest didn’t let me down! Tornadough Alli has THIS wonderful recipe for Pancake Cupcakes. She uses pancake batter as the batter for the cupcakes and a maple frosting. It was a huge hit with the kiddos! They especially loved the mini pancakes I made to top off the cupcakes. It was the perfect ending to a very GOOFY inspired movie night!
Final Thoughts
The kids adored this themed dinner night and had a lot of fun with it. I even got my own special soup message from my oldest. Must have been a job well done!
I absolutely love doing these themed dinners to make movie night a little more magical for the family. What food items would you add to your Goofy Movie themed dinner? Let me know in the comments!
