Toy Story Pizza Party Night
Tonight, I am going to share with you how we threw our very own Toy Story Pizza Party! This idea was sparked by the upcoming National Pizza Day as well as our love for all things Disney. This simple dinner is an EASY way to add a little Disney magic to your evening.
National Pizza Day is a celebration of all things pizza taking place yearly on February 9th! You can thank the early Romans for the very first iteration of our favorite cheesy, carb-y, cuisine. Many years later, 18th century Naples would be the birthplace of the modern pizzas we enjoy today! Now that we have a basic understanding of pizza’s humble origins, what is the best way to enjoy this pizza celebrating holiday? Well, throw a pizza party of course! And how can we put a Disney spin on our pizza party? By taking some inspiration from Toy Story’s Pizza Planet (seriously, THE COOLEST pizza place ever)!

This can be as easy or complex as you want to make it! Do you want to make your own pizza from scratch? Go for it! Frozen pizzas or delivery fit your timeline better? No shame in that! I will walk you through how we celebrated pizza with our Toy Story Pizza Party, and hopefully you can incorporate some of our ideas into your next pizza party!
The Pizza
Typically, we make our own pizzas at home, and if you have the time, I think that would be a GREAT activity to get the whole family involved with. If this is the route you are leaning toward, let me share with you my most COVETED family recipe, my Great-Grandma Carmella’s Classic Marinara. This recipe hails from Naples, Italy (you read that right), the birthplace of modern pizza! While it is more so intended as a pasta sauce (i.e. spaghetti, lasagna, etc) I love using this as a pizza sauce as well because it is SO flavorful. Well, secret’s out! Check out the recipe HERE.
Amidst our busy schedules, I decided to take the frozen pizza shortcut (as I said, NO SHAME HERE!). The kids most certainly didn’t mind. But to “Disney-fy” the pizza, I decided it needed some Mickey shaped pepperonis on top! I bought a frozen large cheese pizza as well as a bag of pepperonis to add on myself. To make Mickey ears, I divided the pepperonis and trimmed several of them into smaller circle shapes. I think it turned out rather cute! You could also use mini pepperonis for the ears, if they are available at your local grocery store.
Snacks
We also had to utilize our brand-new Alien Popcorn Bucket we brought home with us from Walt Disney World. I can understand why people LOVE collecting these popcorn buckets because they are so adorable! This very well could be the start of an obsession for me…The kids loved passing the bucket around while watching Toy Story as the pizza baked in the oven.
Dessert…but make it pizza!
What pizza party is complete without dessert pizza? Wanting to stick with the Toy Story theme, I racked my brain to find something that would work. Then I remembered Buzz Lightyear talking about roasting hot “schmoes” around the campfire. That’s IT! S’more pizza, of course! I took to the interwebs and found THIS great recipe for S’mores pizza from The Cookie Rookie. The recipe was very easy to follow and very DELICIOUS! It was a huge hit with the family.
