Horror Movie Dinner Party
Friday the 13th occurs during October this year! I can’t think of a better day to host a horror movie marathon. It’s spooky season, after all! So, this week we’ve put together a spine-tingling horror movie dinner menu!
Ok, so this is a big step away from the Disney magic I usually focus on. But I have a horror-loving 15-year-old I gotta bend the rules for sometimes! So, we came up with some fun horror-themed dishes to enjoy during our horror movie marathon. Each menu item features one of our favorite horror icons: Michael Myers, Ghostface, Jason Voorhees, Pennywise, Freddy Krueger, and Chucky.
Which dish will you be executing this Friday the 13th?

Michael Myers Pizza (Halloween)
Michael is known for his ghostly, blank stare. I had a tough time deciding how to capture his iconic look in food form, so I fell back on one of my favorite food art mediums – pizza!
If you follow this blog, then you know I have an affinity for pizza art. Pizza is always a crowd pleaser, and it’s fun and simple to create cool designs with your toppings. So, I decided the best way to portray his likeness was by making a detailed silhouette of his face on top of a pizza with melted cheese.
To achieve this, I printed off a photo of Michael to use as a stencil. Using the stencil, I carved his silhouette into sliced mozzarella. Once the pizza was nearly done baking, I added the mozzarella to the top so the slices could melt together.
Such a simple technique, yet effective!
Ghostface Blueberry Pie (Scream)
Pie crust is another great way to embody your favorite horror icon’s silhouette. To create our Ghostface pie, I used a recipe from Dinner Then Dessert.
Like our Michael Myers pizza, I printed off a stencil of Ghostface to carve into the top crust of our pie before baking. To ensure his ghostly mask didn’t get too brown in the oven, I baked it separately and pressed it into the pie once finished.
This technique worked in my favor again! The pie looked great, and it tasted even better.
Jason Voorhees Charcuterie (Friday the 13th)
Cheeseballs and charcuterie boards are another go-to for our themed dinner nights. It’s a lot of fun getting creative and letting your imagination run wild with the design. So, to represent Jason Voorhees during our horror movie dinner, I made a cheeseball into his famous hockey mask.
To make the cheeseball, I used a recipe from Dinner at the Zoo. But instead of coating the cheeseball with nuts, I used shredded white cheddar to resemble the color of his mask. For the final details, I used sliced black olives and red peppers.
From there, I simply had fun adding the final embellishments to the charcuterie board! Notice the wedge of brie with the bloody knife? Don’t worry, that’s just strawberry jelly with a drop of red food coloring. My daughter particularly enjoyed that gory touch.
Pennywise Veggie Platter (It)
As a healthy dinner menu item for our horror movie marathon, we created our favorite dancing clown in veggie tray form.
Pennywise’s face was made with cauliflower and red pepper. I used sliced green olives for his eyes as well as sliced cheese for his teeth. His hair was made with red pepper, carrots, and cherry tomatoes. And finally, for his frill, I used spiralized cucumber.
This is another dish you can play around with and have fun!
Freddy Krueger Meatloaf Glove (Nightmare on Elm Street)
Freddy is best known for his menacing knife glove, so I knew I had to incorporate this iconic handwear into our horror movie dinner. To create his glove, I decided to make a meatloaf hand. I got the inspiration for this dish from a recipe by Chef Club for meatloaf zombie hands.
I followed the recipe’s instructions but wrapped our Freddy hand with par-cooked bacon for the final 20 minutes of oven time to get the glove texture. When the meatloaf was finished baking, I added tin foil “knives” to complete the look.
It was pretty gruesome looking, if I do say so myself!
Chucky Good Guys Cereal Bars (Child’s Play)
Our tribute to Chucky was inspired by the fictional Good Guys cereal seen in Child’s Play.
I decided to find real-life cereal similar to Good Guys and make an adapted version of Rice Krispies Treats. A recipe from Baker Bettie provided great instructions for achieving this.
While perusing the breakfast aisle, I found that a mixture of Trix Minis and dehydrated marshmallows closely resembled the sugar-coated cereal in the film. I simply mixed our cereal with melted butter and marshmallows and there you have it – Good Guys Cereal Bars!
I hope our horror movie dinner menu has inspired some dishes for your next horror movie marathon! Is there a horror movie icon you think is missing from our dinner? Let us know in the comments!
