Disney Character Breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace – A Review!
This week, we are reviewing the character breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace!
Topolino’s Terrace is located on the gorgeous rooftop of Disney’s Riviera Resort. This table service restaurant offers character dining for breakfast, and French and Italian-inspired signature dining for dinner. But today, we are focusing on breakfast!
Officially referred to as Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends, guests of this dining experience enjoy a prix-fixe menu while meeting Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy. Breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace fully embraces the celebration of European art found throughout Riviera Resort. The characters even don artist-inspired costumes unique to this dining experience, but more on that later!
Advance Dining Reservations (ADRs) are strongly recommended to secure a table at Topolino’s Terrace. And because of the popularity of this character meal, obtaining reservations can be quite difficult. Be sure to check out our Tips to Score the BEST Dining Reservations before booking opens!
Atmosphere
To get to the Riviera Resort, we took a bus to EPCOT then hopped on the Skyliner. Riding the Skyliner gondolas is an attraction in and of itself, which the kids really enjoyed!
Upon arriving at the resort, we headed to the top floor and checked in for our reservation. Near the check-in desk, you will find display cases exhibiting handmade pastas, European wines, and specialty cheeses offered at Topolino’s Terrace.
As I mentioned before, Riviera Resort celebrates the art of the European Riviera. You will see many art pieces throughout the space of popular Disney characters and icons.
The dining room is surrounded by large windows allowing guests to take in the sweeping views of the surrounding area.
As we walked through the dining room, I noticed how nicely spaced apart the tables were, which allowed for a more intimate experience.
All in all, I felt Topolino’s Terrace had a very elegant and refined atmosphere.
Price
Pricing for breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace is comparable to other character meals on property. Each adult is $45, and each child (ages 3-9) is $29 plus tax and gratuity. The prix-fixe menu includes an assortment of pastries, choice of entrée and sides, Minute Maid juices, and Joffrey’s coffee. There are also additional cocktails and specialty coffee beverages available to order for an additional cost.
Now, I have heard from others there has been some confusion as to whether children under three eat for free during breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace. From my understanding (and experience), if a child is sharing from your plate or just enjoying a side (scrambled eggs in our case) there is no additional charge. If you order your child an entrée off the kids’ menu, then you will be charged.
This may be subject to change, but in our experience, our son was able to enjoy pastries, juice, a side of scrambled eggs and everything else we shared for no additional charge. And that was more than enough food for him!
Topolino’s Terrace Breakfast Menu
Adult entrée choices on the menu include the following:
- Quiche Gruyere – house-made pancetta, roasted potatoes, gruyere, field greens, lemon vinaigrette
- Avocado Toast – prosciutto, poached egg, toy box tomatoes, fennel, harissa vinaigrette, ciabatta
- Two Eggs Any Style – roasted potatoes, choice of smoked bacon, ham, sausage, or plant-based sausage
- Wild Mushroom Scramble – spinach, plant-based eggs, plant-based sausage, tomatoes

This, of course, is subject to change. As someone who regularly creeps Disney menus, I have noticed that Topolino’s Terrace updates their breakfast offerings frequently. Head to Disney’s website to see the most updated menu.
Kids can create-their-own entrees from the following options:
- Scrambled Eggs
- Fruit and Yogurt
- Mickey Waffle Dippers
Each kids’ entrée comes with a choice of two sides (potatoes, fruit cup, sausage, or bacon) and a beverage.
Beverages
After being seated, our server brought us a carafe of passionfruit, orange, and guava juice. I knew right away this was nonother than the famous POG juice I’ve heard fellow Disney fans rave about!
This was a pleasant surprise as I was not expecting this tropical concoction to make an appearance at Riviera Resort. I’ve never had the pleasure of trying it myself until this visit, but now I see what the hype is about! The blend of juices was sweet and tangy and a great accompaniment to our breakfast.
I almost regretted letting my son have some because he would not put it down and almost missed his first character interaction!
We didn’t order any other beverages, but coffee and juices were also included with the meal.
Cocktails guests may order for an additional charge included:
Cocktails With Alcohol:
Classic Mimosa
Classic Bellini
Riviera’s Bloody Mary
Cocktails Without Alcohol:
Pineapple-Jalapeno Margarita
Riviera Spicy Bloody Mary
Pêche Repose
Specialty coffee drinks available for an additional charge included:
Riviera Resort Blend
Double Espresso
Macchiato
Caffé Latte
Cappuccino
Café Mocha
Assorted Pastries and Bread
Breakfast began with an assortment of shared pasties. These included croissants, chocolate chip muffins, and apple crumble muffins. To fit with the art-theming of the meal, they were served in a paint bucket which was a fun presentation. Honey butter, strawberry jam, and chocolate hazelnut spread were also served on the side which resembled paints in a palette.
The pastries were a big hit with the kids. I, wanting to save room for my entrée, restrained myself and only had a few nibbles of each one. But they were very good!
Entrees
I have heard confusion amongst guests in the past on what is actually included with the price of your meal in terms of food. Some have stated you are able to order more than one entrée, while others have experienced only being allowed to order one. Our fabulous server, Edwin, made it very clear to us that we may choose one entrée, and an additional entrée dish to enjoy as a side. The side dish would be a smaller portion than the entrée serving, and would not come with the accompaniments. I will explain this in more detail as I cover each dish we ordered!
* Edited to add: Effective February 15th 2023, Topolino’s Terrace no longer offers a second entrée choice as a side. Instead, guests order one entrée that will be a larger portion. You may also order accompaniments such as eggs, bacon, and potatoes. As always, this is subject to change. Your best bet is to talk with your server!
As I mentioned before, I asked for a side of scrambled eggs for my son knowing we would have plenty of other food coming that we could share with him. There was no additional cost for us in doing this.
Wood-fired Butchers Steak
My husband and I each ordered the Wood-fired Butchers Steak. This dish definitely gives you the most bang for your buck! As my “side” entrée, I decided to try the Quiche Gruyere while my husband ordered the Avocado Toast with our son in mind.
I’ll start with the steak by saying – WOW! The steak was cooked perfectly and had a nice char from the grill. It was also seasoned well and very tender. I particularly enjoyed the onions and tomatoes as they added a fresh and acidic contrast to the richness of the meat and polenta.
And even though I’m not a fan of mushrooms, I gave them a shot. I have to give them props, they worked really well with the other elements of the dish and added a nice earthy element.
This was my favorite dish of our meal.
Quiche Gruyere
The quiche was decadent and rich with a perfectly flaky crust. I enjoyed the savory flavors, but unfortunately my steak stole most of my attention so that’s all I really recall of the dish. However, our toddler was a big fan!
Avocado Toast
I loved the presentation of the avocado toast. I enjoy avocado toast any day of the week, but Topolino’s really enhanced this dish with the addition of prosciutto, tomatoes, and fennel.
The harissa vinaigrette was a great acidic element to juxtapose the richness of the avocado. But my favorite part of this dish was the perfectly cooked poached egg. The silky yolk was a great accompaniment to the other elements of this dish.
Now, would I order avocado toast as my $45 entrée? Absolutely not, as I don’t see that as a great value. But it was a great “side” entrée!
French Toast Brulée
My eldest daughter ordered the French toast and bacon with a side of steak. Yes, you read that right! The Wood-fired Butchers Steak can also be considered a “side” entrée. If you really wanted to, you could order the steak as your entrée and your side! You will receive no judgement from me.
The French toast came with strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries with Chantilly cream. My daughter was a big fan, but couldn’t finish the generous portion.
Mickey Waffle Dippers
My six-year-old ordered the Mickey Waffle Dippers for her entrée with a side of bacon and fruit. I didn’t think it was possible to improve Mickey waffles, but Topolino’s said “hold my paintbrush!” (Sorry, couldn’t resist that one)
The presentation of these Mickey waffles was adorable. They were served on an artist palette with orange-maple, strawberry, and chocolate syrups for dipping. I love that there was an interactive element to this dish making it fun for kids (and kids at heart!). She was a big fan and has requested we make them at home.
The Characters
As I mentioned before, the characters at Topolino’s Terrace don costumes inspired by various artists of the European Riviera. Mickey is dressed as a painter, Minnie a poet, Daisy a ballerina, and Donald as a sculptor.
At various times throughout breakfast service the characters were introduced and danced around the restaurant to Funiculì, Funiculà.
The characters were fun and playful, and made rounds to our table more than once. This is something I have to praise Topolino’s Terrace for, as many other character dining experiences only offer one quick exchange with each character.
Minnie was probably my favorite of the character interactions. Upon seeing her, my toddler felt compelled to “boop” her on the nose to which she adorably reciprocated. This became a game between the two of them.
Final Thoughts
Topolino’s Terrace is an elegant space offering gorgeous views of the property. Breakfast here really felt like an upscale character dining experience.
While the price point is certainly a hefty one, it is nothing out of the usual for character dining across property. And one thing I noticed about the characters at Topolino’s is they spent a lot of time with us compared to other character dining locations.
What makes breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace really special, is the quality of food. The same cannot be said for some other character dining buffets (looking at you Chef Mickeys). Portions were generous and the food was absolutely delicious. You will not leave hungry!
* Edited to add: Now that there are more restrictions on how much food you may to order, I do have concerns that the portions for some entrees justify the $45 price point. If food quantity is a priority, I would steer towards a character breakfast buffet instead such as Crystal Palace or Tusker House.
Our breakfast experience at Topolino’s Terrace is why I consider it one of the best table service restaurants on property. Click HERE to see our other table service favorites!
If you are set on booking character dining for your next Walt Disney World trip, I highly recommend breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace!
