    SpongeBob SquarePants Birthday Party Theme

This week, we celebrated my daughter’s 8th birthday with a SpongeBob SquarePants party theme! My kids are big SpongeBob fans.  It all started with my oldest, who is now 16 – if you can believe it!  She adored the cartoon growing up, so for her 3rd birthday I made her a SpongeBob cake.  Little did I know then, but that would be the start of many themed dinners. Since my oldest passed on her love of SpongeBob to her younger siblings, I thought it would be fun to revisit the theme for my younger daughter’s 8th birthday party. Her SpongeBob birthday party featured DIY decorations, party games, and food and…

    Mandalorian Themed Dinner

This week, we enjoyed a themed dinner featuring our favorite characters from The Mandalorian! Currently in its third season, The Mandalorian has been a pop culture phenomenon ever since it debuted on Disney+.  With its brand new characters and storylines, this fresh take on the Star Wars universe has touched the hearts and minds of viewers all over the world.  As we approach National Star Wars Day on May 4th, I decided now would be the perfect time to plan a themed dinner to enjoy during the latest Mandalorian episode.  Our menu items were directly inspired by the Mandalorian warriors and fan-favorite character – Grogu (aka “Baby Yoda”). * This…

    Hocus Pocus Dinner Party

For our final Halloween Themed Dinner, we had a Hocus Pocus Dinner Party with our close friends! If you’ve been following this blog, you know that Halloween is a BIG DEAL in our household.  We have a bucket list of our favorite Halloween movies we look forward to watching every year, but this is IT, people!  The crème de la crème, the pièce de résistance, our absolute FAVORITE Halloween movie of all time – HOCUS POCUS! Every year, we invite my friends over for a Hocus Pocus Dinner Party and enjoy a Halloween-themed meal during the movie.  We really outdid ourselves this year, so I decided to share our menu…

    Beetlejuice Themed Dinner

It’s time for another Halloween-themed dinner, and this time we’re dining with the ghost with the most – Beetlejuice!  Beetlejuice is a Halloween staple in our household, and a movie we find ourselves quoting all year round.  There are a lot of great food scenes in this movie, so it was a lot of fun creating this menu for our Beetlejuice Themed Dinner!  It’s Showtime! To kick things off for our Beetlejuice Themed Dinner, I served some roasted roaches as an appetizer.  Don’t worry – they aren’t REALLY roasted roaches.  These delicious morsels are actually cheese stuffed dates wrapped in bacon.  I found the idea and recipe over at Castellon’s…

Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day as a Family

Happy Valentine’s Day, readers!  This week , I’m excited to share with you the different ways we celebrate Valentine’s Day as a family. Valentine’s Day has admittedly been my least favorite holiday I seldom looked forward to.  I have always viewed the day as a mainly consumerist holiday, laced with expectations of flowers, chocolates, and obtaining busy restaurant reservations.  It’s a lot of pressure!  Not to mention EXPENSIVE as well!  After working several years in the restaurant industry (and on VERY BUSY Valentine’s Days), I decided I wanted to celebrate this holiday a little differently – and that was at home with my family.  Once we started to celebrate Valentine’s…
