Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant – Review!
This week, we are sharing our review of Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant!
Raglan Road is a popular table service restaurant located at Walt Disney World’s shopping and entertainment district – Disney Springs. Raglan Road is as authentic to a true Irish pub as it gets! This Irish owned and operated restaurant features a menu of traditional Irish cuisine alongside an extensive list of Irish beers and spirits.
In addition to award-winning cuisine, guests of Raglan Road enjoy live Irish music and dance performances throughout the evening in a fun and energetic atmosphere.
We dined at Raglan Road during a recent trip to Walt Disney World, and today we are sharing our review!
Raglan Road Atmosphere
The authenticity of Raglan Road starts with the building itself. Raglan Road was built in Dublin by Irish craftspeople using Irish materials. Once completed, everything was shipped overseas to be rebuilt on Disney property. In addition to the building, you will find the interior furniture, fittings, and artwork were also imported from Ireland.
For more information on how this space came to be, head to Raglan Road’s website!
We dined at Raglan Road as a family, but the environment here is suitable for any group or couple looking for a unique and fun dining experience. The atmosphere at Raglan Road is lively and festive. This is due, largely in part, to the live performances taking place during the evenings and weekend brunch service.
Raglan Road’s live entertainment includes Irish singer-songwriters, musicians, and dancers performing traditional and contemporary music selections. These performances kick off at 5pm on the weekdays, and noon during brunch.
One thing to keep in mind is the live performances can cause it to be quite loud inside the restaurant. If you are looking for a quiet spot for conversation, plan to make reservations for a weekday lunch rather than dinner. However, I truly believe these performances are what make this place really special!
Unfortunately, we were sat at a table very close to the entrance where we couldn’t see the stages. To take in the show, I found myself walking around the perimeter of the restaurant. If viewing the entertainment is important to you, be sure to ask for a table where you can see the stages.
Getting the Kids Involved
Throughout the night, the Irish dancers will welcome children on stage to learn a special dance. I desperately wanted my three-year-old to get onstage with her big sister, but after a long morning of traveling and an afternoon at the water park she was crashing hard.
However, after some chocolate milk bribery, she got up there with big sis and did it! She nailed the steps, even though she was about three steps behind everyone else ha! I was one proud mama of those two girls.
Raglan Road Menu
Raglan Road’s menu was created by top chefs from Dublin. You will find Irish entrees, unique creations, and traditional fare with a Celtic twist. Raglan Road regularly switches up the menu to keep things fresh. To see the most recent iteration, head here!
Beverages
Seeing as how Raglan Road is technically a pub, you will find an extensive array of beer, wine, and signature cocktails.
Many of the beer and whisky selections are imported from Ireland. If you’re having trouble deciding what to order, try one of their whisky or beer flights! It’s a great way to sample what Raglan Road has to offer, and you may even discover a new favorite.
Dinner
Dinner service kicks off with complimentary Irish soda bread served with a Guinness reduction dipping sauce. We were big fans of the soda bread, and even made it at home with Raglan Road’s very own recipe for our Family-Friendly St. Paddy’s Day Party.
Appetizers
Appetizer options at Raglan Road include the popular Nom Nom Wings, Scallop Forest, and Kiss Before Shrimp.
I’m a huge fan of scotch eggs, so I had to give the Irish Egg a try.
I loved that the yolk was runny, which isn’t easy to accomplish! However, the $18 price tag for an egg stung a little.
Friends of ours ordered the Smokie City – a baked dip made with smoked haddock, Dubliner cheese, potatoes, tomatoes, and toasted sourdough. This is a popular appetizer at Raglan Road, and the portion size well justifies the $18 price point.
Entrees
Entrée options at Raglan Road offer a great balance of traditional fare and Irish specialties making it suitable for a variety of palettes. Options range from steak, pasta, and seafood to burgers and sandwiches. There are also vegan and gluten free menu items available to suit any dietary need.
Popular Irish dishes include the Shepherd’s to Die for Pie, Fish & Chips, and Bangers + Mash = Yum.
Portion sizes at Raglan Road are quite generous – you won’t leave hungry! And the quality, execution, and presentation of the food was fabulous all around!
I will say, this style of cuisine is quite heavy. I’m talking rich meats with gravy, potatoes and carby-goodness – the type of food that sticks to your ribs and makes you full and happy. Salad and veggie options are rather limited, so if you’re looking for a light meal you may have trouble finding something you like.
Dessert
Now don’t make the same mistake we did and pass on dessert! Raglan Road is famous for their Gers Bread and Butter Pudding. I have heard nothing but amazing things about this dish and can’t believe we missed it during our visit!
Many a Disney fan has claimed this is the best bread pudding in all of Disney World, even topping the likes of ‘Ohana!
If you’ve tried this legendary bread pudding at Raglan Road, I’d love to hear what you thought in the comments.
Raglan Road Final Thoughts
So, is Raglan Road worth a visit while touring Disney Springs?
If you’re on a tight budget, know that Raglan Road isn’t cheap as far as pubs go. This is a higher-end pub experience, and things can get a bit spendy (looking at you, Irish Egg). But this is something us Disney fans have come to expect with table service dining.
If you’re looking for a quiet escape or a lighter dinner menu, you may want to dine elsewhere. As I mentioned before – it gets noisy during the performances, and the menu is hearty-comfort food at its finest.
However, if you are looking for a fun and exciting atmosphere, then Raglan Road is a can’t-miss destination. The live performances are simply amazing. Watching my girls dance on stage was my absolute favorite part of our experience – I still find myself beaming about it!
The food and drinks at Raglan Road are top notch (they have won numerous awards, after all)! The menu offers a lot of great options to suit a variety of palates, and portion sizes are generous.
I can’t wait to return to Raglan Road on future visits to try more of their incredible dishes. And maybe (if I’m lucky) we’ll get our son on stage next time!
