Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique – A Review!
My daughter had a royal makeover at Disney’s Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, and today we are sharing the experience!
At Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, children between 3 and 12 years of age are royally transformed into elegant princesses and shining knights. Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices pamper and dote on your little one as they style hair, makeup, nail polish, and accessories.
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has three locations throughout Walt Disney World: Disney Springs, Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, and Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom. Currently, the locations at Disney Springs and Grand Floridian remain closed since park reopening. This makes it more important than ever to secure reservations ASAP as spots are limited and fill up fast for this popular experience!
Be sure to check out our tips for securing the most popular Walt Disney World reservations HERE!
Keep in mind, because Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is located inside Magic Kingdom Park, you will need theme park tickets for the day of your appointment.

Arriving at Your Appointment
Check-in for the boutique is located right behind Cinderella Castle. From there, you will choose a package for your little one’s royal transformation.
We went with the least expensive option: The Carriage Package. Rather than purchase a dress from the boutique (which can be very spendy), we brought our own. This was more sentimental for me as this was the same dress my oldest daughter wore during her first Disney trip 10 years prior!
Once we selected our package, we were able to choose a hairstyle for my daughter. Options included a braid, bun, colorful extensions, flower crown, or tiara. My daughter was all about the tiara, so we went with the classic bun hairstyle.
She was also asked if she preferred to be addressed as a princess or a queen. Anyone who knows Gemma will not be surprised that she immediately replied, “A queen!”
Getting Dressed Up
Because we brought our own dress, we headed straight to the dressing room. If you select a package that includes a costume, you will get to shop around with your princess or knight first!
Upon entering the dressing room, one of Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices let us know Fairy Godmother herself would be checking in, and to get our camera ready.
And thank goodness she did because what transpired was a magical moment, I’m thrilled I captured on film. I won’t spoil the surprise here but be sure to have your camera ready!
The Royal Makeover
Once Queen Gemma was summoned, we followed her Fairy Godmother Apprentice to the castle to begin her royal transformation!
I noticed immediately that our Fairy Godmother Apprentice was very sweet and attentive toward my daughter. She led us to the boutique and helped my daughter into her salon chair. Parents have their own designated seating throughout the boutique where they can watch the transformation.
Gemma’s Fairy Godmother Apprentice started off with her hair and gave her a “magic mirror” face shield to protect her eyes. She proceeded to spritz “wishing well water” on her hair and apply “Ariel’s jellyfish jelly” to help style it in place. I adored how every step of the process tied in with one of the Disney princesses.
Once her hair was finished, Gemma’s Fairy Godmother Apprentice began applying her makeup. Gemma picked out her favorite colors to use as well as a face gem.
I appreciated that this wasn’t a full face of makeup, but rather shimmery highlights to accentuate natural beauty. Again, each step of the makeup and nail polish application had a cute story that tied in with the Disney princesses, and I found myself grinning ear to ear. It was very sweet and creative.
Once the makeover was complete, Gemma’s Fairy Godmother Apprentice announced Queen Gemma to the rest of the boutique, and everyone clapped for her. I could tell she felt very beautiful and special in that moment.
Everything our Fairy Godmother Apprentice used during the makeover was added to Gemma’s cinch bag to take home. Gemma was thrilled to keep these items so she could give her dad a makeover at our resort that night.
Sir Mickey’s PhotoPass Studio
Now, every little one who gets a royal makeover must head to the PhotoPass Studio for pictures! You will find the PhotoPass Studio inside Sir Mickey’s gift shop. The PhotoPass photographers really take their time with your kiddo to get some incredible shots.
They even have an assortment of props that complement each prince and princess’s costume. Gemma got to pose with Cinderella’s glass slipper. The little Belle next to us posed with a rose and Beast stuffy. It was so cute!
There is no cost to have your photos taken here, and if you purchased a Memory Maker package these photos are included.
I couldn’t believe how many great shots we got! Our photographer even encouraged me to get in some of the pictures with Gemma.
Keep in mind, this Photopass Studio is available for all park guests, not just kiddos who visited Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. If you have a little one dressed for the parks who’s feeling spiffy – bring them by!
Final Thoughts
I could tell Gemma was really feeling herself after the makeover. I was sure she would ditch the dress soon after, but she proudly wore it and her sash all day. Later in the day, she met Princess Tiana and was so excited to show off her dress and tiara.
That night back at the resort, it was time for Daddy’s makeover. As Gemma took out all the goodies from her appointment, she shared each story told to her by her Fairy Godmother Apprentice. The experience clearly made an impact on her!
So, is Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique worth it?
Now, some of the packages at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique can get very expensive. And if you’re looking for actual makeup application and complex hairstyles, you won’t find that here.
The makeup and hairstyling at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique are simple, but it’s the experience you are paying for. Having your little one doted on by one of Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices in Cinderella’s Castle is a pretty amazing occasion!
I purchased the least expensive package ($99.95) and brought our own dress. This was a great way to save on expenses, and I don’t feel that decision caused Gemma to miss out on the magic of the experience.
Seeing Gemma get special treatment from her Fairy Godmother Apprentice, then proceed to walk around the park exuding confidence made the $100 absolutely worth it to me. She still talks about that experience to this day. Not to mention the incredible photos we have which are keepsakes I will cherish forever!

Did the nail polish last long? Sometimes kids nail polish doesn’t last long. The reason I ask is that we are going for two weeks and not sure if I should get my daughter’s nails done before we leave or wait until her appointment at BBB.

Hi Laura! The nail polish used during the makeover is a clear glitter polish, so it was hard to tell if and when the polish started to chip. But kids will be kids, and I know my daughter’s polish didn’t last as long as a standard manicure would. I think if you want your daughter’s nails to look a certain way for the trip, I’d get them done beforehand, then she can get the glitter polish as a top coat at her appointment. I hope you all have a magical vacation!
